I started my career as a board-certified Anesthesiologist...
I created a lucrative and prestigious role as being one of the gatekeepers and a patient's advocate to spearhead the safety and standard of care rendered to each patient requiring my anesthesia services.
I'm truly grateful for my staff and patients who sensed and experienced my exhilarating bedside manner. My motto, "Every patient is my family and I will provide an excellent customer experience in skill and character."
Everything is working for me, I have a job that I love and I was able to support my family.
Now life happened, with the economic restructuring I lost my job not once but twice. I went from six figures to zero in one day---yes in 24 hours. Just like that.
And worse? I have been told by many of my peers and mentors before: "You need to have a contingency plan or an alternate stream of income" but I didn’t embrace that idea. I was just not taught that way.
And then I faced another trial again. My beloved brother - Willliam, Jr. transitioned to Heaven. I felt empty, lost, and in limbo.
I was frustrated, shamed, and broke and now I’m in an emotional mess. So I did what I always do when I feel stressed and that was I took a break.
While going through the grieving process, I decided to enroll myself in a community college on how to publish a book. I remember writing a 900-word assignment about someone who is dear in our hearts and I wrote about someone I lost.
Amazingly, when I read that assignment, everyone encouraged me to publish it into a book.
And I did just that! I published my first book using that 900-word assignment.
